
Welcome to my site, The Fit Belly. Inside you will find beautiful, prenatal fitness clothing to get you through your workouts during your pregnancy and post partum days. I have created this site based on the needs of myself, and other healthy women, who wanted stylish, well-fitting maternity workout wear that would keep up with them as they continued on their fitness routine during their pregnancy. Since you are visiting this site, you are probably already aware of how important it is to remain physically fit throughout your pregnancy. Most women realize that it will be easier to regain your pre-pregnancy body if you stick with an appropriate maternity fitness routine for the full nine months. But did you know that athletic women tend to have easier, shorter labors? If your body has been trained to endure stresses, such as those created by strength training and cardiovascular endurance training, it will use those same tools to help you through the birthing and recovery process. We also experience less back and leg pain because our core musculature is stronger.
While it is true that you must adjust your pre-pregnancy workouts to ones that are more appropriate for someone exercising for two, that doesn't mean that you are restricted to things like yoga or walking. Pregnant women all over the world are cycling, running, swimming, and lifting weights and you can too - as long as you modify your exercises and follow the guidelines set forth by your obstetrician. If you are new to exercise you should begin with a shorter, easier routine of yoga, walking, and/or strength training with light weights. If you have been an exercise fan for quite a while you need to simply modify your current routine.
